Syrian Media: Military Convoy Arrives in Al-Bukamal to Secure Border with Iraq

Al-Sabah Al-Jadeed – Agencies:Syrian television reported that a military convoy from the Syrian Ministry of Defense has arrived in the city of Al-Bukamal, near the Iraqi border.According to the report, the convoy aims to secure the borders and combat smuggling operations between Iraq and Syria.Earlier, the Syrian presidency stated that President Ahmad Al-Shar’a and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani met with the Emir of Qatar in Doha, where they discussed border security and agreed on strengthening field and intelligence coordination.A statement from the Syrian presidency noted that:“The meeting addressed the bilateral relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of Iraq within the framework of both sides’ keenness to reactivate joint Arab cooperation and emphasize the deep historical ties between the two brotherly peoples.”According to the statement, Al-Shar’a and Al-Sudani stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and independence of both countries and rejecting all forms of foreign interference, affirming that:“The security and stability of Syria and Iraq are the cornerstone of the region’s overall security.”The meeting also addressed border security, where both sides agreed to enhance coordination in field operations and intelligence sharing to combat mutual threats.
