Traffic Directorate: New Plate Fee via 'Your Plate at Home' Service is 155,000 IQD
Baghdad – Al-Sabah Al-JadeedThe General Traffic Directorate explained the mechanism for subscribing to the new “Your Plate at Home” service. It clarified that all types of vehicle plates will be available within the coming days and confirmed the imminent launch of the third production line at the license plate printing factory.Colonel Haider Al-Waeli, the Directorate's Media and Public Relations Director, stated:“Since the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, instructed the resumption of evening shifts at registration complexes, we have seen smoother operations in all registration centers across Baghdad and other provinces.”He added:“We have already started printing plates for all private vehicles, which are now ready for issuance. We also began the printing of taxi plates in Baghdad as a first phase, and soon all types of plates will be printed and distributed.”Al-Waeli explained that:“The directorate continues to replace old plates as part of transactions like title transfers and annual renewals. Citizens who wish to replace their plates can visit registration centers to request the change.”He also announced the launch of the “Your Plate at Home” service, an optional electronic platform allowing citizens to request plate replacement from their own homes.“Some citizens have busy schedules and cannot visit registration centers. Through this service, they can submit their data online, after which the Traffic Directorate will verify any penalties or thefts. If the record is clear, a text message with a payment link will be sent, enabling the citizen to pay the 155,000 IQD registration plate fee from home.”After payment, another notification is sent to the directorate, which proceeds to print the plates and coordinate with the citizen to have them installed at their residence.Regarding taxis, Al-Waeli noted:“Many taxi drivers who received new registrations can now go to designated sites to receive and install their new plates. The factory, inaugurated by the Prime Minister, is operating continuously, and for the first time, Iraq is self-producing plates without the need for imports.”He concluded by saying:“The factory is currently operating two production lines, and the third line will soon be operational. All plate types will soon be available and printed across all provinces in the coming days.”
